Based on recommendations from Kevin, I chose to build a board that would function as both a freerider and a cruiser. My main use for the board will be moving around college next year, hence the cruiser. However, I would also like to improve my skills in the more technical areas of riding: drifting, carving, and building up speed, so I decided to adopt more of a freerider style as this would enable both uses for the board. I traced the design off of one of Kevin's boards, one that he recommended as an excellent all-purpose board.

I decided the shape of my board by thinking about what my interests where and choosing to model my board after a classic muscle car. During making that design the longboard ended up looking like a hammerhead shark. I still haven't decided which design choice I want to paint my board as. Wether it will be a car board or a shark board will be decided tonight.

Start for the 4th ... we are online and running ...

Finally, the Longboard Collective has started ... delayed by a day due to just another snow storm that hit the Upper Valley. Wayne Gallipoli from Surf_Rodz in Connecticut, who has not only worked with us but also with schools in CT, came up again on Monday to help us with building the boards - he also had to sit out the storm.
But we are excited - the fourth year of the Longboard Collective and this year we are working with Sam McNatt's (Eastbilt Image)  7 inch pressed boards, maple veneer with a concave shape to start with.
