This has by far been the most fun and useful March Intensive. Kevin, Wayne, Herr GH, and Mr. Holloway were great instructors who made this learning experience efficient and enjoyable. My graphics came out great and Wayne and Kevin helped me set up my trucks and wheels.

I picked up the general basics of long boarding in a matter of minutes and I was able to skate around with novice ease. Thanks a ton for letting me have this fantastic experience guys!

At last the boards are coming together. First thing we did was unveil our graphics that dried last night. Needless to say, the boards looked awesome all around. All that was left before we could begin riding was to get our grip-tape designs all worked out and put on trucks and wheels. Since my graphic was fairly simple, I wanted to put some extra time into making my grip-tape design stand out as well. Because my base graphic had a symmetrical style to it, I decided to continue with that motif with my grip-tape.

After considering various tessellation ideas, I settled on a repeating arrow pattern using white and black grip-tape; the white arrow pointed toward the nose of the board and the black arrows pointed toward the tail of the board with the arrows seperated into columns. Next all it took was some customizing of the trucks to give the board a floaty feel similar to what a snowboard would feel like to finish the board. After just five minutes of riding I can say that this is by far the best longboard I've ridden. I also want to give a huge shout out to Wayne for making this all possible. You're the man Wayne!

Today was the last day to finish up our boards. I really appreciate everyone who helped make this amazing experience happen. Im sad that it has to end, it was an awesome experience to have, very unique and I'm thankful that I was able to be involved with the project. Special thanks to Wayne (from Surf Rodz) who took his time to come up and help us make our boards come to life! Also Mr. Lavigne, Mr. Goodall-Heising and Mr. Holloway, they all were awesome, and very helpful when I needed help, which was a lot of the time! Thank you to everyone! :) 

The last day, a lot of things happened to make sure everyone had their board done and the way that they wanted it. For the grip tape, at first I just wanted it to be black and plain, but as I went around and saw all of the cool things that people came up with I decided to do something different. I did the ends black tape, and in the middle red stripes. Overall I loved how my board turned out, its unique and means something and is important to me. Everyones board turned out awesome, all of them are cool and unique to that person. This has been the best March Intensive yet, next year probably wont be able to top it. :)

Today I came in wanting to get my board done as fast as possible so I could ride . . , but there were a few things that had to be done first.  I had to finish up my graphics and give my board its final seal.  After sealing my board I did my grip tape in a random sort of pattern (but it turned out awesome).  Then I had Wayne help me to install the awesome trucks and wheels (Surf-Rodz).  After the trucks and wheels were installed I was able to say thanks to Wane for all of his help and assistance with the fourth year of the longboad collective. I also want to say thanks to Mr. Lavigne, Mr. Goodall-Heising, and Mr. Holloway for all of their help and I wish that this March Intensive could keep going . . . but I understand that it is important to try other things. Thanks again!

P.S. If this March Intensive was still running next year, I would try my hardest to be involved even though I am graduating this year.

Today is the day it all comes together. I finally get to see what my board will look like with all of its components. So far I have put a polyurethane coat on the bottom to protect it, and black and red griptape on top. It looks great so far, and I cannot wait to put the trucks and wheels on. The weather isn't too great today, so I dont think we'll be able to go ride. This has been the best March Intensive that I have ever done. It was really fun to build a board from scratch and make it mine. I'd like to thank Mr. Lavigne, Mr. Holloway, and Mr. Goodall-Heising for making this a possibility. I'd also like to thank Wayne for helping us with the whole process, it wouldn't be possible without him; he's great. Even with the shortened week, they were still able to make a schedule that allowed us to complete the boards, and that's awesome.

Today is the final day of the Longboard Collective. I am very pleased with my deck thus far. I decided to do a simple grip tape design with a cutout of a longboarder. Due to my lack of patience, I forwent the assistance of Mr. Lavigne and Wayne and decided to attach it myself. It turned out much better than I expected, and I can't wait to go out and give my board a test run. This March intensive has been immeasurably better than my previous years; it was a great experience, and it will help me make decks independently.

I was very excited at the beginning of the day to put the finishing touches on my longboard. I put on the grip tape for my longboard early in the day.  I then proceeded to put the trucks on my longboard.  I chose blue for the color of my trucks and for the color of my wheels.  When I got to test my longboard I felt the need to tighten the truck gels so that I would not have to worry about wheel bite as much.  I learned how to put grip tape on a long/skate board.  I also learned how much potential I already had with mechanical skills. Overall I had a great experience with this march intensive and would definitely recommend it to other students.

Today we put the finishing touches on our boards. First I washed the soap off my board and peeled the blue tape off. Next I put on grip tape, I used mostly black grip tape but the tail is clear grip tape. Lastly I put on the trucks and wheels, I went with gold trucks and white wheels because the gold matched the gold on my deck and the white wheels because blue wouldn't look good with gold. I am looking forward to cruising on my new board sometime soon.
