Dan

I’m a pretty lazy guy, so most of my motivation for creating a long board came from wanting to cruise around. Making a long board, however, is not for the sluggish.

Each aspect of creating a satisfactory long board takes acute attention to detail as well as a great deal of effort. One slip up while working with a high-powered saw could mean disaster, so safety has been accentuated time and time again by our instructors. “Make sure you leave with all twelve fingers!”- Mr. Lavigne

While I only have eight fingers, (two thumbs) I think I got the point.

I have yet to experience the thrill of rolling around on my own unique creation, but the excited anticipation is a part of the ride. At this point, my long board needs further sanding and coats of polyurethane.

My unfinished board is fat and tall and I think that I’m going to name it Albert. I’m looking forward to sustaining many types of injuries while riding Albert: stress-fractures, concussions, burns, and probably a couple splinters. These are injuries inevitable and I’m no stranger to hospitals, but for now I must finish Albert.

WISH ME LUCK,

Dan R.
