The shape of the board is a reflection on the rider's persona. Usually when riders pick and chose pre-made stores from shops, its hard to find a board that really speaks to your style as a rider. For me personally, the aspect of long boarding that speaks to me is the connection to the wave under a surfboard. The birth of skateboarding and long-boarding came from urge to bring surfing to the land, and with my board, the dream of early riders can be a reality.
